Hi Everybody. I can’t believe it’s July already. How is everyone going with their goals? Moving forward towards your goals can sometimes be hard and most times were our hardest critics to ourselves. So how can we reach our goals without it being too difficult or feeling like you have failed if you haven’t made it yet .

First of all we need to make sure we have made SMART goals. Goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and timely.

Then we can break these goals down into smaller achievable goals that are easy to accompolish adding the small steps continuously will get you the big goal. If you need to set goals or need assistance ask me for a goal making session where i can help you make the goals into a more clearer path.

Dry Body Brushing and its Benefits

Have you heard of this or do you already add this into your daily routine? Dry body brushing is a great way to get rid of the dry skin we tend to accumulate at this time of year. It involves a nice firm body brush or loofah mitt and dry skin best time is just before we jump into the shower in the morning. Using nice firm strokes towards the heart use upward strokes start from the bottom near your feet and work upwards. Several strokes in each area and overlapping a little. After finishing brushing your body jump in the shower and give it a good wash to remove those loose skin cells. After jumping out of the shower pat yourself dry and moisturise your skin with coconut oil . If you want to help reduce cellulite put a few drops of grapefruit essential oil into the coconut oil.

Recipe of the month- Sauerkraut

Ingredients

Half a green or red cabbage shredded

1 tbsp good quality sea or himalayan salt

1 tbsp Carraway Seeds

Large bowl to mix cabbage in

Glass jars with glass lids (mason jars)

Large cabbage leaves

Shotglasses

Method

Put shredded cabbage , salt and caraway seeds into a large mixing bowl. Start by mixing the ingredients well together once well mixed start massaging the cabbage you’ll soon start to notice liquid. The idea is to get as much liquid as possible to put in the jars as this helps the fermentation process. Now start filling your clean mason jars with the cabbage mixture ensuring you push the cabbage down to release more liquid . leave a space at top of the jar.

Make sure the cabbage is submerged by the liquid. Add the large cabbage leaf to top of the cabbage and it’s totally covering the cabbage and add shot glass to weigh it down.

Repeat with remaining mixture untill its all put into jars.

Store in a dark cupboard and check everyday by day 3 it should be ready . you can leave it longer for more tangy taste. Once opened store in the fridge.

Slowly incorporate fermented vegies into your diet by just adding 1 tsp to your meal at first and working up to 1 tbsp.

Sauerkraut is a great addition to your daily diet. Fermented vegies help increase the good bacteria into your intestines. Increasing the good bacteria helps control the bad bacteria and also assist in building our immune system up. 80% of our immune system is made in our intestines so its important to have a great gut full of good bacteria but our rushed lifestyles full of stress and processed foods and antibiotics compromises this.
